Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice or discipline, which originated in India. The term Yoga means to unite or join one’s mind, body and spirit. The ‘system Yoga’ is a simple natural programme involving five main principles. They are:

  • Proper exercise
  • Proper breathing
  • Proper relaxation
  • Proper diet
  • Positive thinking and meditation

Hatha Yoga

‘When the breath wanders the mind also is unsteady. But when the breath is calmed the mind too will be still, and the Yogi achieves long  life. Therefore, one should learn to control the breath’

The most popular Yoga, generally practiced in modern society is Hatha. The Sanskrit term Ha tha means ‘Sun and Moon’, representing opposing energies; hot and cold, male and female, positive and negative. As well as a technique of purification, it helps to raise the level of consciousness through asana, or posture, breathing and meditation. Hatha Yoga brings balance of these forces into the physical and mental body.

 

Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini yoga is known as the yoga of awareness. It helps to relax, strengthen and heal our body, mind and spirit. Kundalini Yoga focuses on awakening Kundalini energy through regular practice of asanas, dynamic breathing, kriyas, meditation and mantras.

Simplified Kundalini Yoga (SKY)
